Boxing’s biggest purse: Fury-Usyk rematch set for $191m payday
The heavyweight title rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh tonight will generate a reported $191 million purse, marking one of boxing’s richest events.
Following his victory in their first encounter last May, Usyk is set to receive the majority share of the purse, which has increased by $56 million from their previous bout.
The Ukrainian champion had agreed to a 30% split in the first fight on the condition of securing the larger portion should he win.
The nine-figure payday approaches some of boxing’s most lucrative contests, though falling short of Floyd Mayweather’s record earnings.
Mayweather collected $280 million for his 2017 bout with Conor McGregor and $250 million for his 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao.
Tonight’s bout in Saudi Arabia will determine the holder of the WBO, WBC and WBA heavyweight titles.
