Benzeer: Al-Sarraj’s peace initiative for Libya can pave the way for national solution
The Secretary General-designate of the Arab-European Center for Human Rights and International Law, Dr. Ramadan Benzeer, has hailed the initiative proposed by the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj last Sunday, saying it paves the way for building a civilian national state in Libya.
Benzeer told Libyan Express on Tuesday that Al-Sirraj’s initiative has a very vital point, among the rest, which is the non-centric administration in the country, as well as the transparency and unity in Libya.
“What is so pivotal in the initiative is that Khalifa Haftar has been excluded from any national project after ‘the warlord’ has launched his offensive against Tripoli, killing, injuring and displacing many people.” Benzeer added.
He added that the initiative also means that all the Skhirat agreement bodies will be terminated including the Presidential Council and the High Council of State, among others, and all the revolutionaries and backup fighters will be joining the regular army and military institutions.
“In order for this initiative to be come a comprehensive national project, it should be put to deliberations by all Libyan activists, politicians, parties and civil societies so that it gets to be a fully-approved project.” Dr. Benzeer indicated.
