Artillery shelling hits only functioning airport in Libya’s capital
Three engineers from Afriqiyah Airways airliner were injured and an airplane was damaged as Mitiga Airport in the Libyan capital Tripoli was hit by shells on Sunday.
According to the airport’s management, flights at the airport were suspended for a few hours due to the shelling.
The flights were redirected to Misurata Airport for a short time before they were resumed at Mitiga Airport.
No party has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but the airport has been targeted over 5 times by Khalifa Haftar’s forces since the start of their war on Tripoli on April 04.
