Al-Sirraj: Libya’s elections by end of 2019
The Head of the Presidential Council in Libya Fayez Al-Sirraj said Tuesday in a meeting with municipal council’s heads and members that the county should hold parliamentary and presidential elections by year end.
Last Wednesday, Al-Sirraj met with Khalifa Haftar in Abu Dhabi but few details had emerged so far.
“We have agreed with Haftar to hold elections by year end.” Al-Sirraj remarked.
He added that he had met Haftar “in order to stop bloodshed, reach a formula of avoiding our country’s conflict and military escalation.”
