Al-Maqarha figures visited Abdullah Al-Senussi
A delegation from the Al-Maqarha tribe visited Major General Abdullah Al-Senussi, the former regime’s military intelligence director, at Abu Salim prison in Tripoli on Wednesday. Al-Senussi is currently imprisoned for his alleged role in the 1996 Abu Salim prison massacre.
The Social Council of Souq Al-Juma reported that the visit was coordinated with the Deterrence Apparatus and the Presidential Council.
Prior to the visit, the Al-Maqarha delegation met with dignitaries and sheikhs from Souq Al-Juma and the Four Districts.
Al-Senussi Trial Postponed
On 1 December, the trial of Abdullah Al-Senussi was postponed until 12 January 2025 at the request of the defence attorneys, who sought additional time to prepare their pleadings.
The Abu Salim prison massacre occurred on 29 June 1996, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,269 prisoners. The official explanation given was that the prisoners had rebelled and resisted security forces.
