EU-Libya Partnership Expands Across Multiple Sectors

BRUSSELS — The European Union and Libya are strengthening their cooperation across aviation, energy, health, and migration management, officials announced during a diplomatic meeting on Friday.
During talks in Brussels, Nicola Orlando, EU Ambassador to Libya, and Libyan Ambassador to the EU, Jalal Al-Ashi, discussed plans to deepen bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding educational and cultural exchanges.
“Our partnership with Libya is founded on mutual respect for sovereignty, human rights, public freedoms, and Libya’s rich cultural heritage,” Orland said during the meeting.
The EU diplomat also praised Libya’s recent democratic progress, specifically noting the completion of the first phase of municipal elections held across 58 municipalities.
Orland described the elections as “an important milestone” in Libya’s democratic development.
