Libya and Turkey sign canine security training agreement
In a move to bolster counter-crime efforts, Libya and Turkey have embarked on a collaborative security venture with a unique emphasis: canine expertise.
The partnership, formalised in a memorandum of understanding signed in Tripoli on Thursday, brings together the Libyan Ministry of Interior, represented by Major General Mahmoud Ashour, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, and Turkish officials based at their embassy in Libya.
This initiative prioritises enhancing Libya’s security apparatus through specialised training programmes for officers in the handling and utilisation of tracking dogs, complemented by the integration of advanced technologies.
A Turkish Embassy representative underscored Turkey’s dedication to this collaborative effort, emphasising their commitment to supporting Libya in combating crime and safeguarding shared interests through training and security capacity building.
High-ranking officials from both nations, including the Assistant Director of the Department of Relations and International Cooperation at the Libyan Ministry of Interior, were present to witness the signing, signifying the importance of this canine-centric security partnership.
