Iran sets conditions for Lebanon ceasefire

Iran has declared its support for a ceasefire in Lebanon, but only under strict conditions. Speaking in Beirut on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated any truce must be acceptable to Hezbollah and coincide with a ceasefire in Gaza.
“We support efforts for a ceasefire on the condition that it would be acceptable to the Lebanese people, acceptable to the resistance, and thirdly, it would be synchronised with a ceasefire in Gaza,” he asserted.
Araqchi, Iran’s top diplomat, emphasised his presence in Beirut “in these difficult circumstances” as a testament to Iran’s unwavering support for Lebanon and its Shia population. This visit marks the first by a senior Iranian official since the conflict escalated.
