SSA seizes 3 fuel trucks in Libya
Fuel smuggling costs the country $750 million a year
Libya’s Stability Support Apparatus’ Nesma branch seized three diesel smuggling trucks, it announced on its website.
The statement added that when truck drivers were stopped and questioned, they admitted to smuggling diesel fuel on a daily basis as they arrived from Bani Walid to Al-Shwerif.
They fill up at gas stations in Bani Walid at 30 pence per piaster and sell it for one dinar to fuel smugglers in Al-Shwerf.
Stability Support Apparatus (SSA) works to consolidate security and stability on behalf of the Presidential Council.
SSA announced that they referred the suspects to the prosecutor.
According to the head of Libya’s National Oil Corporation, fuel smuggling costs the country $750 million a year.
