Wayne Rooney makes an embarrassing error in his St Patrick’s Day tweet
Wayne Rooney joined virtually everyone this morning celebrating St Patrick’s Day with messages on Instagram and Facebook.
Rooney marked the day with a #tbt post of himself and his friends celebrating post-match, accompanied by a shamrock and what he thought was the Irish flag.
However, the footballer was left red-faced after his eagle-eyed followers pointed out that the flag in question was actually the Ivory Coast flag. The mistake was quickly fixed, but not before dozens of comments mocking him began building up underneath the picture.
St Patrick’s Day is the Feast Day honouring of Ireland’s patron saint, St Patrick. Celebrations are being marked in Ireland with parades, festivities and a fair bit of green fancy dress and a number of famous landmarks have also been lit up in green to mark the day.
