Andrew Tate arrested in Romania on human trafficking
Romanian prosecutors said they have detained divisive internet personality and former professional kickboxer, Andrew Tate, on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and forming an organised crime group.
In a statement, prosecutors from the anti organised-crime unit said Tate, who was banned from many social media platforms for misogynistic comments and hate speech, and his brother Tristan will be detained for 24 hours with two Romanian suspects, after raiding properties in Bucharest.
The Tate brothers have been under criminal investigation since April.
They declined to comment but their lawyer confirmed they had been detained.
“The four suspects … appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost,” prosecutors said.
“They would have gained important sums of money.”
Prosecutors said they had found six women who had been sexually exploited by the suspects.
Tate has said women are partially responsible for being raped and that they belong to men.
Twitter feud and a pizza box
Earlier this week, the British national was told to get a life by climate activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter after he told her he owned 33 cars with “enormous emissions.”
“Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions,” he wrote in a tweet, taunting the activist.
Hello @GretaThunberg
I have 33 cars.
My Bugatti has a w16 8.0L quad turbo.
My TWO Ferrari 812 competizione have 6.5L v12s.
This is just the start.

Thunberg replied, “yes, please do enlighten me. email me at smalldickenergy@getalife.com,” she wrote.
It was in response to this that Tate then posted a video, smoking a cigar in a bathrobe before a box of pizza was placed in front of him.
Internet sleuths believe the pizza box, from a well-known chain in Romania, helped police confirm Tate was in the country and played a crucial role in his arrest.
