Al-Jagam has been released from Zawaya in a prisoner swap

The pilot who worked for Khalifa Haftar’s forces, Amer Al-Jagam, arrived in Benghazi this afternoon as part of war prisoners’ exchange deal between the eastern and western regions.

Al-Jagam’s son, Ziyad, said in a post on Facebook that his father had arrived in Al-Shweirif and then in Benghazi as part of a prisoners’ exchange deal between Al-Zawiya and Benghazi.

The Head of Centeral Al-Zawiya Council of Elders and Dignitaries, Emhamed Khamaj, confirmed the release of the pilot as part of a prisoners’ exchange agreement that included 15 anti-Haftar detainees imprisoned in the jails of the eastern region.

Al-Jagam’s fighter fell in Al-Zawiya, west of Tripoli, in December 2019, when it was carrying out airstrikes on civilian neighborhoods in the city, as part of the large-scale military operations that Haftar’s militias were launching against the western region during the aggression against Tripoli.
