Two men arrested, drugs seized following raid in Nalut
Two men have been arrested in Nalut after Libya’s Stability Support Apparatus (SSA) say they seized 76 kilograms of Hashish and 2 kilograms of Heroin found in a package.
The security operation was carried out in what is known as Sania Yacoub triangle, near the Tunisian and Algerian borders, and two suspects were hunted down until they entered Tunisian territory.
Libyan Express is told that SSA took the package and was then detained. A search warrant was then carried out.
Appropriate legal action was taken and the seizures were referred to the Public Prosecutor’s office.
Libya lies at the heart of the cross-Saharan drug trafficking routes. It is an established market and a transit zone for hashish, and a transit spot for heroin and cocaine. There is an emerging market for both heroin and cocaine in Libya’s large cities, including Tripoli, Misurata, and Benghazi.
