Charge d’Affaires of the US reiterates necessity for elections in Libya
The US Charge d’Affaires in Libya, Leslie Ordman, has reiterated Washington’s support for the head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Abdoulaye Bathil,y in his efforts to push for a political agreement leading to timely elections in Libya.
Ordman met Bathily, on Wednesday, following a series of meetings conducted by the US diplomat with Libyan officials in Tripoli.
In a separate meeting earlier on Wednesday, CdA Ordman met with GNU Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Adel Juma.
A statement by the US embassy in Libya said discussions focused on efforts to increase transparency and financial accountability in the public sector for sustainable and inclusive development throughout Libya.
Ordman also met on Tuesday with officials from the Central Bank of Libya and the Audit Bureau to learn about their efforts towards promoting transparency in Libya’s financial system, according to the US embassy.
