Ambassador Norland praises Libyan Audit Bureau’s role in anti-corruption drive
U.S. Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland praised the Libyan Audi Bureau for fighting corruption and improving transparency.
Norland’s praise came at the Wednesday co-launch with Audit Bureau head Khaled Shakshak of a USAID supported International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) training programme for 45 Audit Bureau auditors.
Shakshak also met U.S. Charge d’Affaires Ordeman who commended the Audit Bureau’s annual reportAudit Bureau’s annual report. He reiterated U.S support for auditors to receive international accreditation and underscored the importance of transparency and accountability.
On Friday, Ordeman met a (Tripoli-based) Libyan government delegation led by the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Juma to discuss the importance of enhancing financial transparency and combating corruption.
The U.S. embassy tweeted that the U.S. ‘‘looks forward to building on this important conversation. We agreed that Libyan revenues belong to all of its people and must be distributed transparently and with accountability.’’
