Caroline Hurndall urges foreign mercenaries to leave Libya
UK ambassador reviews with Haftar withdrawal of mercenaries from Libya
The British Ambassador to Libya, Caroline Hurndall, said she had discussed with Khalifa Haftar on Sunday Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the importance of withdrawing all mercenaries from Libya.
Hurndall said on Twitter that she had urged, during her meeting with Haftar, all parties in Libya to engage with the UN Advisor, Stephanie Williams, adding that she was clear on the need to avoid a return to conflict.
Hurndall arrived in Benghazi on Sunday for the first time since being appointed as British ambassador to Libya. She said she hopes this visit will be the start of other visits to the eastern region.
