Libya appoints envoy to Qatar after 6 years
Libya’s Mohamed Al-Lafi has officially assumed office as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the State of Qatar after the representation was limited to the charge d’affairs level for nearly six years.
Mohamed al-Lafi, one of the notables in al-Zawiyah city, was named ambassador to the Gulf nation.
Al-Lafi has been a delegate in the United Nations-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum since 2020, which contributed to the formation of the current interim executive authority in Libya.
He served in various government positions, most notably the head of the High Council of State office, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government, and a minister in charge.
On Tuesday, the Secretary-General of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Hammadi, received the credentials of Mohamed Al-Lafi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Libya to the State of Qatar, and expressed his readiness to provide all support to advance relations between the two countries.
