Internal Security thwarts attempts at smuggling hard currency through Mitiga
Libya's Internal Security Service foiled attempts at smuggling over half a million Euros through Mitiga International
Two hard currency smuggling schemes were foiled at Mitiga International Airport, according to the Internal Security Service.
According to a report on its official Facebook page, as part of efforts to reduce the phenomenon of currency smuggling, members of the Internal Security Service (ISS) seized a Libyan national, born in 1998, with an estimated foreign currency sum of 609,000 Euros at the port of Mitiga International Airport.
Following an inspection by personnel of the International Aircraft Security Inspection when it took off on the Al-Baraq flight to Turkish Istanbul, legal action was initiated and it was transferred to the Customs Centre, which has jurisdiction.
