GECOL warns public of false news and misinformation
The General Electricity Company warns the public from believing false information spread by unfounded social media pages that are attempting to smear the reputation of the company
The State Electricity Company (GECOL) has issued a warning against fake news and disinformation about the company’s operations that are sometimes published on certain dubious social media sites.
According to a post on the company’s official Facebook page, the latest news was that there was a power outage in some areas of the Republic of Tunisia due to the disruption of power transmission lines in Libya and the export of surplus power from the Ruiz generating plant to areas in southern Tunisia.
The electricity company stated that such news was untrue and that it has lately increased its frequency with the malevolent goal of worsening public perception of the State desired by the writers of these sites, who might be from outside Libya.
The State Electricity Company urged all followers to receive sector news from the company’s official page on Facebook, which is officially recorded with the Blue Label.
