Libya’s Ministry of Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to establish a national school food program in Libya.

According to the Ministry’s Information Office, Al-Maqrif said that a committee will be formed to oversee the initiative from its start. Expressing the ministry’s gratitude for the United Nations World Food Programme’s (WFP) efforts to assist elementary and middle school children, he said that he will follow up on this with personal visits to educational institutions.
In turn, Rawad Al-Halabi, Representative and Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme, praised the Ministry’s enthusiasm, adding that the formation of the committee would give impetus to its launch, emphasizing that Libya had been one of the leading countries in school feeding since the early 1970s.
