Attorney-General signs MoU with Egyptian counterpart to combat crime and corruption

The Libyan Attorney-General, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, and his Egyptian counterpart, Hamada Sawi, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on collaboration and the expansion of ties between the two offices in fighting crimes, including terrorism, corruption, human trafficking, and cybercrime.

Al-Sour said that his travel to Egypt will have a good impact on the work of the Attorney General’s Office in Libya, and that he was looking forward to the restructuring of the office’s work.

He also said that the visit will serve as a good point of collaboration and contact between the two offices, allowing them to share information and experiences in the best interests of both nations.

Building on the memorandum of understanding inked between him and his Egyptian counterpart, Al-Sour highlighted the need for new procedures to guarantee quick action between the two nations’ prosecutors, as well as to protect evidence and secrecy by examining cases in common.

The Libyan Attorney General stated that his office is eager to work seriously with its Egyptian counterpart, exchange experiences, and train members of the Libyan Office and its criminal police service to improve their technical skills, thus contributing to the process of joint training and cooperation.
