United Nations preparations for the Berlin 2 conference on Libya
The United Nations envoy for Libya, has holding a series of meetings with key players to deliberate and plan for the Berlin 2 conference
Jan Kubis, the United Nations Envoy for Libya, is holding a series of meetings with local and international stakeholders to discuss and plan for the Berlin 2 conference, which will take place this month, a year and a half after Berlin 1.
Kubis recently met with Abdelhamid Dabeiba, the head of the Government of National Unity, and Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, as well as Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, and the Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates.
These intensive meetings dealt with complementary efforts to move forward with the implementation of the road map, which was endorsed by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, in particular the holding of elections, and progress on the list of sovereign positions to be discussed by the House of Representatives at its next session next week, where this item, along with the genocide, will be discussed.
Consultations and meetings of the head of the support mission in Libya are proactive in order to finalize, organize timetables, and map out a road map for a major international conference, and it will almost certainly be followed upon.
