The US: The Libyan Political Dialogue Forum has a chance to make history
The US Embassy to Libya hailed the work of the LPDF in putting Libya on the right course towards progress and helping bring it out of a decade long conflict
The United States hailed the “historic role” played by the the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in pushing the country towards progress and holding elections next December.
On its Twitter account, the US Embassy said members of the Forum have “an opportunity today and tomorrow to make history again by transmitting the constitutional rule to the Libyan Parliament, to make these elections possible without delay.”
The Embassy added that “along with the large number of Libyans hoping for free and fair elections, the United States will monitor this entitlement with great interest.”
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced earlier this week the meeting of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum via video on Wednesday and Thursday, to discuss the constitutional basis for the elections.
The meetings will address the Legal Committee’s proposal for a constitutional framework leading up to presidential and parliamentary elections.
