NCDC: The number of people who have benefited from the vaccine in Libya exceeds 173,00

Libya's national vaccination campaign against Covid- continues with the Director of the Vaccination department announcing that over a 170 thousand people have benefitted from the vaccines

According to Abdel Basset Samio, Director of the Department of Vaccinations, the number of people who have benefited from the Covid-19 vaccine has now reached 173,539, and the vaccination campaign against the virus is still ongoing.

Samio told a media outlets that they were continuing vaccinations with the Chinese vaccine while waiting for Oxford’s vaccine to be released, and that the Russian vaccine would be distributed to municipalities that are equipped with the proper equipment to store it at the correct temperature.

Despite the large number of people registering to recieve the dose, he noted that a significant number of people did not come to collect their designated doses, despite having received the messages setting a time limit for the shot.

Meanwhile, in Benghazi, vaccination teams have been deployed to distribute vaccine doses to medical professionals at their workplaces in order to meet as many deadlines as possible while also ensuring that critical health services at medical facilities are not interrupted.

In an additional positive note for Covid inoculation in Libya, the Ministry of Justice of the Government of National Unity announced this week the launch of a vaccination campaigns against Covid-19 within rehabilitation institutions and prisons across the country.

In a statement, the Ministry said that the vaccination campaign in reform and rehabilitation institutions was part of the National Vaccination Campaign, which, in its initial phase, will be targeting chronically ill inmates in all institutions.
