UNSMIL’s deputy head and PC deputy head discuss auditing two central bank of Libya branches
The deputy head of UNSMIL for Political Affairs Stephanie Williams met Wednesday with the deputy head of the Libyan Presidential Council Ahmed Meitig to discuss recent developments in Libya.
UNSMIL said on its Twitter account that the two officials had expressed their increasing alarms about the enforced disappearance of HoR member Siham Sergiwa and called for her immediate release.
They also called for those responsible for Sergiwa’s abduction to be held accountable.
Williams updated Meitig on status of the recent relaunching of the public bid for a comprehensive audit review of the Central Bank of Libya, including the parallel branch in Al-Bayda in eastern Libya.
Meanwhile, Meitig reiterated the Government of National Accord’s full support for the auditing process.
The audit will promote transparency and accountability and contribute to much needed structural economic reforms, according to the UNSMIL.
