France’s President tells Al-Sarraj he opposes Haftar’s Tripoli attack
In a meeting for the Libyan Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj and the French President Emmanuel Macron in Tunisia, Macron renewed his opposition to the current attacks in Tripoli.
The meeting on Saturday was on the margins of the funeral of the deceased Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi in the capital Tunis.
Macron urged Al-Sarraj for a ceasefire and a return to the UN-led political process, but Al-Sarraj told him that the urge should be extended to the attacking forces.
“The GNA forces are defending themselves and their capital as well as the civilian statehood in Libya against the attack of Khalifa Haftar’s forces.” Al-Sarraj told Macron.
