Presidential Council announces new cabinet of accord government
The Presidential Council of the UN-backed Serraj government announced late on Sunday the formation of a new ministerial cabinet that consists of 13 ministers and five state ministers.
A member of the PC, Mohammed Al-Immary, told Press Solidarity that five ministries went for the west, including Interior, Foreign, Education and other ones, while the east got four portfolios; the Defense ministry on top of all with Al-Mahdi Al-Berghathi as the minister although many say he is part of Khalifa Haftar’s military staff. The east also took Justice ministry, Finance ministry and Economy.
Moreover, Al-Immari added that the south won three ministries, Health, Local Governing,and Social and Labour Affairs ones.
This time, the new formation included two women, Eman Ben Younis for the State Institutions Affairs ministry and Asmaa Al-Usta for the Women Affairs ministry.
Meanwhile, the PC is yet to hand the formation of the new cabinet to Tobruk parliament for approval as it has been agreed on.
