Walking in Tripoli streets, litter is everywhere
Tripoli Municipality member, Nasir Al-Kriwi, said that the reason behind the piles of garbage in the capital’s streets is the closing of Abu Salim and Tajoura waste landfills, in addition to the main landfill in Al-Sayeh area since two days.
The closing of the landfills came because of delay in paying the salaries of the workers in the public services sector as they have not received a penny since three months.
Al-Kriwi said that the authorized officials have been contacted and urged to pay the workers’ dues, expecting that the salaries will be deposited starting Thursday, and he communicated with many notables in the landfills’ areas to reopen them as well.
