Libya’s Government of National Accord reshuffles cabinet
The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj has replaced five ministers in his government today – Sunday – in a new political change that goes hand in hand with the start of security arrangements in the capital Tripoli,
Al-Sirraj replaced Interior Minister Abdelsalam Ashour with Misurata-based MP Fathi Bashagha, and named Ali Al-Essawi for Economy Minister, and Faraj Bu Matari for the Finance Minister and Bashir Al-Gatari for the Youths and Sports Minister.
The change comes as economic reforms and security arrangements are said to be taking effect in the capital and supposed to spill over to all across the country.
The package of reforms comes at the pressure of UNSMIL and the armed groups’ latest fighting in Tripoli, which took tens of lives over a month-long battle for power and authority in southern Tripoli,
