Libya’s parliament fails to pass referendum law, says to activate direct presidential elections
The House of Representatives in Tobruk in eastern Libya failed to reach full quorum for Monday session and only 25 members attended, thus making it very difficult for the passing of the constitution referendum law.
The spokesman for the HoR Abdullah Blehiq told reporters that the Speaker Aquila Saleh will activate Law No.5 for 2014 that allows Libyans to elect a president for the country directly without a constitution.
The HoR sessions failed to come out with any useful decisions and laws regarding the upcoming scheduled-for-December elections.
