Haftar conditions opening oil terminals to replacing Libya’s central bank governor

The Libyan eastern warlord of the self-styled army Khalifa Haftar said in a statement posted by the General Command of the Army that the oil terminals will be reopened and oil exportation will resume once the governor of the Central Bank of Libya Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer is replaced by Mohammed Al-Shoukri who was selected months ago by the House of Representatives in Tobruk. 

The command added in a statement on Wednesday that the decision to shut down Libya’s oil ports was raise as they cut off the source of funding on the “terrorist groups,” which were using it and extorting the Libyans by squandering the revenue on their terrorist acts.

It also indicated that other conditions for reopening include forming a fact-finding commission to investigate the funding of terrorists in Libya and to probe the fact that the armed force are not receiving their financial dues.

This comes as oil prices rocketed today after Libya had declared force majeure on oil exports and suspended oil production.
