The US spy aircraft Havilland Canada Dash-8s carried out Monday a mission of surveillance above the eastern Libyan region to hunt “terrorists and individuals linked to the attack on US consulate in Benghazi in 2012.” The Drive revealed.

The American website also reported that Dash-8s flew the missions over eastern Libya from Souda Bay on the Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean.

The island is home to a U.S. Navy base, which serves as a common base of operations for American forces in the region.

US consulate attack in 2012 led to the killing US ambassador Christopher Stevens, his state department colleague Sean Smith and former Navy Seals Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.
