Libya football team arrives in Morocco as CHAN kicks off
The Libyan football team arrived in Morocco on Friday after hours of delay as the Moroccan aviation control authority was late in giving their fight a clearance to take off.
The team, which is coached by the Libyan Omar Al-Maryami, is going to play in group 3 besides Nigeria, Rwanda, and Guinea.
Libya won the 2014 title in South Africa when it beat Ghana on penalties.
The Total African Nations Championship (sometimes referred to as African Championship of Nations or CHAN) is a football tournament which was first announced on 11 September 2007.
CHAN is administered by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is played between the best national teams of Africa, exclusively featuring players who are active in the national championships and qualified to play in the ongoing season.
Morocco will kick off today’s tournament in a match against Mauritania as part of group 1.
