Former US special envoy to Libya: New CBL governor appointment is null and void
The former US Special Envoy to Libya, Jonathan Winer said the House of Representatives has no authority under Libya Political Agreement or otherwise to replace Central Bank of Libya governor unilaterally.
“Article 15 of LPA requires agreement with High Council of State & yes vote of 2/3 of members of HoR.” He tweeted.
He also added that all of that “Didn’t happen. Null & void – and pointless. #IMF & intl banks won’t recognize it.”
The HoR elected Tuesday by 54 votes a new governor – Mohammed Al-Shukri – for the CBL.
