Security team to investigate assassination of Misurata mayor
A spokesman for the Misurata Security Directorate announced the formation of a security team that consists of all the security services in the city to investigate the assassination of the mayor of the municipal council, Mohammad Eshtiwi.
The announcement came during a joint press conference held by the Directorate of Security and the Municipal Council, on Monday evening.
The House of Representatives (HOR) called for “the prosecution of the perpetrators and bringing them to justice,” adding that the mayor of Misurata was known for his stance against terrorism and extremism, condemning the assassination of Eshtiwi and described the incident in a statement as a “cowardly terrorist act.”
The international community also voiced its deep concern over the incident with both the foreign ministry of Turkey and France issuing statements condemning the tragic event.
