Russia pondering easing arms embargo on Libya
Russia is ready to consider easing an arms embargo for Libya, the Interfax news agency cited Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov as saying on Wednesday.
The Libyan Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord Faiz Al-Sarraj said he was hopeful that a UN-imposed arms embargo would be partially lifted against some branches of the country’s military on December 01.
On Tuesday, the Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammad Sayala met with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and discussed cooperation in trade and investment projects, besides Russia’s support for the political solution and elections in Libya.
