Head of the Government of National Accord meets Egyptian president in Cairo
The head of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Faiz Al-Sarraj met with the Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi In Cairo, where they agreed to improve the prospects of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to establish a joint Libyan-Egyptian Higher Committee, in which all economic, service, security and political sectors will hold their first meeting in Cairo in January 2018.
Al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s readiness to provide all that it can “to achieve fruitful cooperation at all economic, political, security and investment levels,” according to a statement by the GNA media office.
Talks lasted more than an hour and dealt with several common issues between the two neighboring states including a possible visit by a technical delegation from Egypt to Tripoli airport for the purpose of security measures to enable the resumption of direct flights from Libya to Cairo.
The head of the GNA arrived yesterday evening in Cairo and was received with a formal ceremony at Cairo International Airport.
