The “Butcher of Bosnia” jailed for life
The Bosnian Serb commander Ratko Mladic was sentenced to life behind bars for genocide in the 1990s Bosnian war.
Mladic was convicted by the United Nations war crimes tribunal on 10 of the 11 charges that included war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The “Butcher of Bosnia” as he is known, led armed forces during the massacre of Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica and the siege of Sarajevo among other atrocities.
Mladic has denied all the charges and his lawyer said he would appeal.
