Mitig: Serraj’s visit to Haftar is an ”individual act”
The Deputy President of the Presidential Council in the Government of National Accord, Ahmed Mitig considered Fayiz Al-Serraj’s meeting with Khalifa Haftar a personal visit that does not represent the policy and vision of the PC.
On his Facebook page, Mitig said Sunday that Al-Serraj did not inform the rest of the PC members about this visit and therefore, it is no more than a personal visit that is not necessarily a representation of the GNA’s Presidential Council political track.
“Such visits must be discussed prior to taking place by all of the PC members, since the PC has already set up some accord-aiming visits to all of the conflict parties in Libya.” Mitig clarified.
He also pinpointed that the political agreement has been in effect since December 17, and it is an abiding agreement that cannot be cancelled and none of its articles can be frozen, underscoring that the PC has nothing to do with article (08) from the political agreement
