Abdul Rahman Al-Sweihli elected again as Head of High Council of State
Abdul Rahman Al-Sweihli was elected again as the Head of the High Council of State (HCS) after he won achieving 66 votes while his opponent from Construction and Justice Party Abdelsalam Ghweila came second with only 22 votes, in an election ceremony that was aired live from the HCS headquarters in Tripoli.
The new round of elections comes one year after 2016 elections ceremony, in which Al-Sweihli, insisted to issue a decree saying that the Head of the HSC must be subject to new elections annually.
The HSC is an institution that came into being by the Libyan Political Agreement signed in Skhirat resort, Morocco in December 2015.
