Eastern military governor bans Libyan women from traveling without male escort

A tendentious decision to ban Libyan women from traveling without being escorted by a male from their first degree relatives was taken on Sunday by the Military Governor of the eastern region of Libya, Abdel Razik Al-Nadori.

Abdel Razik Al-Nadori was appointed by the Tobruk-based House of Representatives as a military governor for the whole eastern region, giving him a free pass to decide for the fate of the cities in terms of living conditions and basic needs.

“Women under 60 yeas old shall be banned from travelling overseas without a male escort from their relatives.” The order that was issued on Sunday says.

The orders says that the ban is in effect starting Sunday and any violations will be legally dealt with.

The decision sparked outrage on social media with many users comparing the eastern governor to Donald Trump, only the former has beaten Trump by banning his own people from travelling around.
