Italy sends aids to Haftar-held areas in eastern Libya for first time
The Foreign Minister of Italy, Angelino Alfano, said his country is going to send humanitarian aids to the eastern region areas controlled by Khalifa Haftar’s Operation Dignity forces.
Speaking on Italian TV, Angelino Alfano added that Italy believes that Libya is one united people, that is why it decided to send urgent humanitarian aids, including medical assistance, to the eastern region.
He did not specify when the aids will be arriving in east Libya.
Angelino Alfano added that after the possible deals Haftar made with Russia, which is willing to have a similar role in Libya to that it has had in Syria so far, Italy found it compelling that it strikes a dialogue with Haftar in the east.
