Libya’s oil production soars to 750.000 bpd, GNA deputy head says
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council of the UN-brokered Government of National Accord (GNA) Ahmed Mitig said Libya’s oil production has increased hitting 750.000 barrels per day (bpd) on Friday.
Mitig added, in a presser on Friday, that the Libyan oil production had recovered so well after the recent reopening of Raiaina pipelines in western Libya, allowing oil to be flowing into Al-Sharara – and later but not now – Al-Feel oil fields.
The pipelines had been blocked by armed groups for two years before the recent reopening took place.
“Through restraint and dialogue, we were able to reach oil output of 750,000 barrels today,” Mitig commented joyfully in the Tripoli presser Friday.
Before the pipeline that feeds Al-Sharara oil field had been reopened in December, Libya’s oil production was about 600,000 bpd, up from less than 300,000 bpd earlier last year.
Libya and Nigeria are the two members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) that are exempted from a recent pledge to cut production.
