Salvation Government conducts a coup on GNA, takes Defence Ministry HQ
The National Salvation Government(NSG) of the dismissed General National Congress had retaken three government buildings controlled by the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli
The NSG of Khalifa Al-Ghawiel announced in a presser on Thursday at the newly retaken building of the ministry of defence his government’s seizure of the ministries of defence, martyrs’ affairs and labour, one month after retaking the Ministry of Education from the GNA in Tripoli’s Tajoura district.
The GNA’s Minister of Labour, Ali Gellah, said he and GNA forces retook the building of the ministry from the NSG’s attacking forces and now, “We’re in control,” he added.
As a reaction to the new steps taken by the NSG prime minister, Al-Ghweil, the prime minister of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Serraj and his deputy Ahmed Mitig as well as the Defence Minister, Mahdi Al-Barghathi, met on Saturday in order to taker the needed procedures – legal and security – to respond to this violation, according to the media office of the PC.
