Misurata declares mobilization of fighters to thwart Haftar’s advances on its locations
The Misurata Municipality, Misurata Military Council, Misurata Notables Council and the Emergency Air Force Operations Room condemned in a presser on Tuesday the bombing on Jufra airbase by a Khalifa Haftar’s warplane.
“We consider Operation Dignity’s targeting of the Jufra base that led to the crashing of a civilian passengers’ planes filled with a notables delegation from Misurata an act of war against Misurata and innocent people.” The statement of the Misurata figures reiterated.
They urged for mobilization of fighters and called on all of the revolutionary fighters to be on high alert for thwarting the advances of Khalifa Haftar’s Operation Dignity forces.
The warplanes of the air force of the eastern commander of the Operation Dignity, Khalifa Haftar, carried an airstrike on Jufra airbase in central Libya on Tuesday afternoon.
Media outlets said the spokesperson of the Misurata Military Council, Ibrahim Bayt Al-Mal was injured in the airstrike, without giving further details.
Haftar is widening his forces’ operations out of Benghazi and is eyeing to have control of all airbases in the southern and central regions so that his attacks on the western city become easy.
He kicked off the Operation Dignity in May 2014 in a bid to fight terrorism as he claimed.
