Key western Sharara oil filed resumes production after two years of shutdown
Sharara oil field in western Libya has resumed oil production in a gradual basis starting Wednesday morning after the Rayaina oil pipelines were reopened after two years of closure.
An official, who asked to be unnamed, told Reuters that after starting production, the filed workers will start pumping oil into Al-Zawiya oil refinery.
“Probably, we would kick off the pimping of oil on Thursday for more reassurance as the oil field has been shut for two years, we need to make sue that everything is OK.” The official added.
The National Oil Corporation announced Tuesday that the two pipelines that connect Sharara and Al-Feel oil fields were reopened, saying it is looking forward to producing 270 thousand barrels of oil per day to be added to Libya’s output.
