Uneasy calm in Sabha after clashes cease
Sabha has seen uneasy calm since last night after a truce was reached by the interference of some parties in the city.
The two tribes ceased their fire after four days of bloody fighting in the city.
“In the coming two days an official signing of the truce between Awlad Sulaiman and Gaddadfah tribes will take effect.” Sources reported Monday.
Over 17 people were killed and 50 inured due to clashes between the two tribes starting from last Thursday.
According to residents and local reports, the latest wave of violence and clashes in Sabha erupted after a monkey that belonged to a shopkeeper from the Gaddadfah tribe attacked a group of schoolgirls passing by.
The monkey pulled off a girl’s headscarf and reportedly bit and scratched her, leading men from the Awlad Sulaiman tribe to retaliate by killing three Gaddadfah people – as well as the monkey on last Thursday and the fight went on.
