Key oil field in Jalu city resumes production as Libya’s oil output exceeds 700,000 bpd
Sources from Jalu-based Al-Tifel oil field said the oil production in the field resumed Thursday after being stopped since 2011.
The source added that Al-Tifel oil field was overhauled by Libyan workers and now it is producing 2000 barrels per day.
“Oil production in the oil field will go back to normal in few days and the output will reach 70 thousand bpd just like it had been during 2011.” The source added.
He added that the oil tanks of the filed are not ready yet to store the oil that will be pumped on a daily basis, but the oil field officials said they are going to store the crude oil in spare ones until the main tanks are ready.
Libya’s oil production has seen a remarkable hike recently since the takeover of the oil terminals and fields in the oil crescent region by the National Oil Corporation following the control of Khalifa Haftar’s Operation Dignity offensive that placed the region under its grip, kicking out Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) forces led by Ibrahim Jodran.
Last week, the NOC reports suggested that Libya’s production has decreased and reached 700,000 bpd.
“We expect to exceed 900,000 bpd by the end of the year as soon as security threats shrink in the country.” The Chairman of the NOC in Tripoli, Mustafa Sanallah said last week.
