Gunmen clash over freshly opened MoneyGram transfers in Tripoli
A number of gunmen quarreled Monday morning over who can obtain as much money as they can from the newly opened MoneyGram Center in Siyahiya district, Tripoli.
“The gunmen, who were actually there to transfer money, but got a bit greedy as avarice controlled them and egged them on to have the whole transfer transactions for themselves, fought one other using heavy and medium machine guns.” One source reported.
Another sources from the scene said one of the two brawling gunmen was killed in the clashes, adding that even RPGs were used to burn the whole center to the ground.
Theses clashes went on unnoticed by the security forces that are positioned in the capital and hence led to the shutdown of the whole new vent of bringing down the value of the dollar in exchange of the dinar by such transfer transactions.
Many economy observers told the Libyan News that fingers have been pointed at the illegal money exchange businessmen, who are various and sundry in the capital and who control the foreign currency market in the capital, with not so much interference by the government authorities or the Central Bank of Libya.
