US to broker reconciliation meeting between Libya’s rival governments in Saudi Arabia
The US Secretary of State, John Kerry, announced days ago in a joint presser with the Saudi Foreign Minister, Adel Al-Jubeir, in Washington that the US had been contacting all the rival governments in Libya to try and gather them to gather in a reconciliation meeting in Saudi Arabia.
The American initiative aims at expanding the UN-brokered Government of National Accord’s political spectrum by including rival parties and political entities in Libya.
Sources from the High Council of State told Ean Libya that the council welcomed the US initiative that is very supportive of the UN-backed GNA and of the political agreement, saying it aims at finding more unity and reconciliation among all parties by holding a meeting in Saudi Arabia that brings them all together with other international stakeholders.
